Why

I wondered if you could intercept links to a site with custom open graph data, so I build this prototype

Did it work?

Mostly, yeah. LinkedIn and Telegram detect the redirect and bypass the data, but everything else I tried (fediverse, whatsapp, signal, bluesky, discord, patreon, maybe some more) worked.

Bluesky for some reason did not load the image, but I mark that down as skill issue on their side.

Uhhh what now?

Idk it's funny and it works so... I'll prob deploy something inspired by this to GeeksList to finally have nice shareable links, and maybe even add it as a feature to JSI. Might do some more experimentation but until then... idk see this as inspiration if you have a similar use-case or just wanna do silly api crimes.
